Mark Mulhern's Retrospective at the Museum of Wisconsin Art is drawing attention.  A recent article in Milwaukee Magazine's May issue talks about his journey as an artist, and features some of the paintings from the MOWA exhibit as well as a photo of Mark Mulhern at work in his studio.  The exhibit, including over 30 works spanning more than 40 years of Mark's career, runs through July 21st.

In the article, Mark shares how travel helps him to, "pay more attention to body language and how people are." It goes on to talk about how he uses sketchbooks as he is traveling to capture memories of his experiences, later using his travel sketches to create monotypes and paintings.

As a compliment to the exhibit MOWA is hosting a Studio Class entitled Travel Sketching with Mark Mulhern on how to use travel sketches as the foundation for finished prints and paintings. Sketchbooks filled with drawings from his spring in Paris will provide inspiration for the class and material for his future paintings.  The class will take place in person at MOWA on June 22.
